The mountain itself is not so high (969m), but the latitude difference is more than 700m. The normal hike length is  4.5 hours. It was first time for me to go there and  enjoyed more than I’ve expected due to the variety of trail!

Passed by the Yugen lake (would be beautiful in autumn), the we walk along the small river.

Sometimes we crossed the river and climbed  up the rocks.

I love this kind of trail!

After passsing Iwadake stone, the trail was steep. This is typical Okutama hiking!

Unfortunately the weather was cloudy so that we couldn’t enjoy the view so much from the peak.

I chose the ridge route for going back. The hike was 4 hours in total, including 30min lunch break.

The accessibility was not so bad (40min from Hanno station). Onsen (Sawatani-no-yu) is located near the bus stop so it’s very convenient. It would be nice to visit again in late autumn. Just be careful to start earlier in the morning- it was very crowded around noon with group tour came up.

Access:

40min bus from Hanno station north gate. Get off ge bus at Sawarabi-no yu.

its also accessible from Mitake
